Four UK bars have appeared in the latest 51-100 list from The World’s 50 Best Bars sponsored by Perrier, with Schofield’s in Manchester leading the contingent at number 59.
It’s a debut for the Joe and Daniel Schofield-owned bar in the annual under-list, which is release a week ahead of the announcement of The World’s 50 Best Bars, this year on October 4th in Barcelona.
Joining it is Three Sheets in London, placed in 72nd. The Dalston bar, owned by Max and Noel Venning, last appeared in a 50 Best list in 2020 at number 34.
Meanwhile, Side Hustle at Nomad London appeared in the 51-100 list for a second year running, climbing five places to number 75.
Donovan Bar at Brown’s Hotel in Mayfair in London completes the group of UK bars. The Salvatore Calabrese-fronted hotel bar appeared in the Awards’ secondary list in 2019 and 2020 and now reappears in 2022 in 89th.
Departing last year’s 51-100 list is Lyaness (number 55 in 2021), Swift (57) Satan’s Whiskers (73), A Bar with Shapes for a Name (77), which could climb into the 1-50 or drop out of the lists altogether.
The 51-100 list includes bars spanning 32 different cities across the world, with 15 new entries on the list and five cities featuring for the first time: Kraków, Bratislava, Manchester, Playa Del Carmen and Bogotá. Singapore leads the list with eight bars.
The 2022 51-100 list also reveals some of those bars to have left last year’s 1-50 list: Atlas, MO Bar and No Sleep Club from Singapore, Camparino in Galleria in Milan, Presidente in Buenos Aires, Quinary in Hong Kong, The SG Club in Tokyo and Tjoget in Stockholm.
The World’s 50 Best Bars is decided by a voting panel comprising over 650 independent drinks experts, from renowned bartenders, educators and consultants to drinks writers and cocktail specialists.
