World-renowned cocktail bar, Coupette has teamed up with French cider house, Maison Sassy to create the brand’s first calvados.

The collaboration will see the launch of two expressions, Calvados Fine in which the eau de vie has spent at least two years in oak barrels, and an aged Calvados XO, which has spent at least six years in the French oak barrels.

“Coupette has always championed calvados and we’re seeing a growing appetite for the spirit in customers and bars across the country,” said head bartender, Andrei Marcu.

“It always delights me to see more and more interesting bottles of calvados on back bars and cocktail menus. Flavour focused spirits are set to be a big trend next year and the distinctive balance of freshness and richness that calvados provides is unmatchable.

“We’re delighted to be working with Maison Sassy on this project whose family has supported the calvados industry for decades.”

The blends are based on a family recipe for calvados that has been in use since 1852. The recipe has long been safeguarded by co-founder Xavier d'Audiffret Pasquier and uses apples from the Château de Sassy’s organic orchards.

The two calvados expressions will be available at Coupette from October and available to purchase online from November 2021.
