Lucy Wong cocktails

Bar entrepreneur Eric Yu of the Breakfast Club is about to open his latest concept, Lucy Wong, with his long-time drinksmith Dré Masso behind the cocktail menu.

Based in Fitzrovia and opening in late February, Lucy Wong is a Hong Kong-themed underground cocktail bar - with a hidden outdoor terrace - that has Chinese design, live music, cocktails, dim sum and roast meats.

Inspired by the 1957 novel The World of Suzie Wong by Richard Mason, Lucy Wong is the imagined daughter of the novel’s title character, Suzie Wong, with the bar taking its cues from the book’s setting of Hong Kong in the 50’s.

The bar, first reported in CLASS early last year, is also an ode to owner Yu’s own memories of growing up in Hong Kong.

Yu said: “Lucy Wong will be an exciting launch for us in London – a new style and concept for our bars and restaurants and a site that is very special for me. It’s a tribute to my mother and allows me to tell my story of growing up in Hong Kong. The cocktails will be simply amazing, with Dré Masso providing his expertise.”

Masso’s cocktails include Asian twists on classics, including the Shanghai 75, Cherry Blossom Manhattan and Dragon Old Fashioned.

Located at 33-34 Rathbone Place, London, W1T 1JN, Lucy Wong is open from 5pm until late mid-week and from 12pm-3am on Saturdays.
