London-based agaveria Hacha has announced the third iteration of Britain’s Best Tequila Cocktail and Britain’s Best Mezcal Cocktail Competitions this Mexican Independence Day, 16 September.

“With the success of the awards in 2019 and 2021, we couldn’t wait to announce the competition this year,” said co-owner of Hacha and founder of the competition, Emma Murphy.

“We wanted to give bartenders a chance to promote their creativity in a unique way, whilst bringing the agave community together.”

The two competitions will be held in the Hacha’s newest venue in Brixton and are a step removed from brand-led cocktail competitions, instead focussing on the wider tequila and mezcal categories.

The drinks entries will undergo a number of tasting and shortlisting rounds before chosen finalists will be invited to participate in a live event on 14 September.

The top three cocktails chosen by the judges at the live event will then be served at both Hacha locations on 15 September for consumers to vote on with the winners of each spirit announced the following day.
