UK Musician Kano and Duppy Share Caribbean Rums have announced the release of a new 100% Jamaican white rum, Duppy White.

The launch is the brand’s first 100% Jamaican rum, inspired by the heritage and experiences of Kano, also known as Kane Robinson.

The Duppy White collaboration between Robinson and Duppy Share founder, George Frost, came from a prognosis that there was a dearth of fun and exciting brands in the white rum category, and the pair set out to create a white rum with “the complexity of the world’s best gins”.

“Working with Kano felt like a natural and authentic fit for The Duppy Share and his genuine enthusiasm for the brand made it really exciting to create something from scratch together,” said Frost.

“With his dedication, authenticity, talent, storytelling ability and respect for the Caribbean - if Duppy Share could be embodied by one person it would be him.”

During the development process, Robinson visited his family’s home in Brownstown, Jamaica to draw upon his childhood sensory experiences of Guinep shells, coconut drops, Devon House vanilla and raisin ice cream, and Julie Mangoes, that would make up the liquid’s flavours.

The result is a rich pot still rum with banana, mango, and green thyme on the nose and caramel sweetness, tropical fruit, and pimento spice on the palate.

“This drink comes from me, this is my life, my family’s story inside this bottle, and wrapped around this bottle,” said Robinson.

“This is something I believe in and genuinely love as a product. That was a major thing for me, creating something that I would like to buy myself, drink myself.”

Duppy White is available for purchase directly through the Duppy White website and is available in Tesco stores nationwide at £19.75 rrp.
