Dave Marlsand, CLASS reviewer for the North, visits Glue in Liverpool's Albert Dock.

Opened in the famed Albert Dock of Liverpool, Bar Glue is the much-anticipated venue of Mike Bower and Nathan Price, who took on the old Burnt Milk Hotel site.

The small place offers a big, personable welcome, with the two owners currently the only members of staff. With each cocktail serving up a story, blends such as Bibi, with Absolut, Rhum JM Volcanique, cacao, honeycomb and espresso, position this bar as anything but ’just another cocktail bar’.

Under the Bridge, meanwhile, brings freshness with Bacardi Carta Blanca, Suze, lime and grapefruit & apple, garnished with sugar glass, giving it an Instagram-friendly vibe.

Just place it with a view of the exposed bricks, minimalist furniture and marble tables.

As trade-friendly and accessible as the drinks are, will Bar Glue struggle in its Albert Dock courtyard location? I hope not. I’d like to think people will make the journey – and bring their friends.
