Edinburgh bar Hoot the Redeemer will close its doors for the final time on September 1st this year.

The Iain McPherson-owned bar, which is themed around a New Orleans vintage funfair and famed for its tarot-themed cocktail menu and boozy ice cream brand Señor Scoop, will close when its lease expires this autumn.

Founded in 2015, the Edinburgh dive bar has long been a favourite among the city’s bartenders.

McPherson, who is also behind Panda & Sons and Nauticus, told CLASS: “I tried my best over the past 18 months to try and keep it open, but the new landlords have plans for the whole building and in the end there was nothing I could do. I apologise to everyone connected that I somewhat failed in that sense.”
