Carrie Smith from Hoot the Redeemer in Edinburgh has won the Meister Hunter 2022 competition and received £3,000 cash and entry into the exclusive Hubertus Circle.

The top three finalists were:

First place – Carrie Smith (Scotland)

Second place – Pierre-Olivier Trempe (Canada)

Third place – Tristan Carvalho (London)

The six finalists took part in a variety of challenges across 15th and 16th of November in London.  Each finalist won their particular regional heat, held in Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Brighton, Liverpool and London in September this year.  A panel of judges were involved in the final event, including Simon Webster from Bar Life UK, Nina Eggeling from the Global Jägermeister team in Germany, Florian Beuren, Jägermeister UK Brand Ambassador, Marian Beke, Master Mixologist and various experts who hosted the challenges.

The challenge on the first day of competition was food pairing, which involved the finalists working with chefs to create dishes, which they then had to pair with a unique cocktail.  The second day began with a fragrance masterclass, hosted by scent artist and perfume teacher Ericka Duffy, and a mixology and garnish masterclass by Marian Beke the masterclass owner of the Gibson Bar and world-famous mixologist, which formed the basis of the final challenge in which the finalists were tasked with making bespoke cocktails at Oriel Bar, London that evening, taking inspiration from what they had learnt during the morning.

The finalists and their Jägermeister based- cocktails were: Helio Oliveira – Spirit Of The Forest, Erin Davies – Morning Routine,  Tristan Carvalho – Exactly Where I Need To Be, Sam Moseley – Morel Wood On The Fire, Carrie Smith – The Cardomummy, Pierre-Olivier Trempe – From Montreal with Love

First place took home £3,000, second place £1,000, with £500 for third place. The winner also gains entry to the Hubertus Circle, an exclusive group of global bartenders which was started by Jägermeister in 2011.

Mast-Jägermeister UK Brand Ambassador Florian Beuren said: “This year’s competition has been so inspiring. We wanted to give each finalist an experience they will never forget and they threw themselves into the challenges with passion and enthusiasm. The final event was incredible and all the finalists made exceptional cocktails and memories to last a lifetime!”

Carrie Smith, 2022 Jägermeister Meister Hunter competition winner, said: “The whole experience has been unbelievable. I’ve had a brilliant experience and have learnt so much which I’m excited to take back to Scotland and share with my colleagues and customers.”
