The team behind Japanese izakaya-inspired restaurant MOI on Wardour Street in Soho, has opened adjoining basement bar Room86.

The venue is design and music-led and is billed as "a spot for spontaneous night caps after dining at MOI, or as an evening destination in its own right".

Its Japanese-inspired cocktails include the Uchi Martini (dry white port, potato shochu, yuzu sake and chrysanthemum bitters) and Shiro Negroni (Japanese gin, champagne cordial, white koji sake and hinoki-yomogi bitters).

There are also zero-abv cocktails, including the Breeze (Everleaf Marine aperitif, olive lemonade and tomato consommé) and low-percentage wines from Muri. The venue also stocks an extensive saké and wine selection.

Snacks from MOI’s menu include its signature cod roe and chilli crisp dip; Maldon oyster crudo with sweet sake and finger lime; lobster tempura with shiso, apple and, kosho emulsion; and grilled lamb skewer with curry emulsion; as well as a selection of nigiri, maki and sashimi.

There’s a dedicated ‘mood’ for each of the five nights a week that the basement bar is open (Tuesday-Saturday from 5.30pm-late), with music matched accordingly.
