Italicus founder Giuseppe Gallo has stepped down from his role as CEO as Pernod Ricard takes full ownership of the brand.

In March 2020 the French spirits group acquired a majority stake in the Italian liqueur while Gallo remained CEO.

“The time has come for me to step down from my operational role and allow the brand to become fully acquired and integrated within the Pernod Ricard organisation as it enters its next chapter,” said Gallo.

“My focus now turns to our newest creation, Savoia Vino Aperitivo, where we are reimagining one of Italy’s oldest aperitivo categories - vermouth - for a new generation of consumers.

“Together with the incredible teams at Italspirits across Europe and ABV in the US, I look forward to building on the relationships, knowledge, and experience we have developed over the past decade.”

Italicus was launched in 2016 as a premium Italian bergamot-flavoured liqueur and it currently sits in both the bestselling and top trending lists in Drinks International's Brands Report.
