Manchester’s hotel game has stepped up of late, with the most recent opening being Mollie’s – the jewel of its in-house bars is Studio IV.
Nestled in the lower ground floor of the hotel, this surprisingly spacious gem brings velvet booths, vintage lighting and a soundtrack that evokes the kind of energy you need after a long day.
Coupled with an opening menu that serves up an abridged version of what’s to come from the bar, my highlight was the Handsome Mortal – a blend of bay leaf-driven PX sherry, sweet vermouth and amaro.
Attentive staff are ready with recommendations and off-menu ideas to round off the experience and, although the live music acts are yet to take to the stage, the experience doesn’t make me want to go anywhere any time soon.
