Dave Marsland is at Bar Posie, one of Manchesters big openings of the last six months.
People watching becomes an art form at Bar Posie, its floor-to-ceiling windows peering out to the Spring Gardens thoroughfare.
Equally, you can’t help being drawn in as you pass by this two-level bright and spacious Scandinavian-style setting. Expect good cocktails – this is the sister of 10 Tib Lane – the menu here has enough of the recognisable, while still a lot of its own character.
The Cacao Nib Negroni, Marigold Sour and the Left Bank Martini need little explanation, but there are also drinks such as the Peaches & Cream (cream-washed Lillet Blanc, Smith & Cross rum, Suze, Cartron Crème de Pêche and soda).
Small plates level up the experience with delights such as oysters, mussels tigres with seaweed mayo and cauliflower and Guinness Rarebit on Toast.
Coupled with friendly staff members and ambient music, this all-day venue has quickly become a respite from some of the busier shopping areas in the city.
