Our Bristol reviewer Mark Taylor is at the city's big launch - Same Again.

Overlooking the river next to the bridge connecting Castle Park with Finzels Reach, Same Again occupies a unique spot in the heart of Bristol.

This compact 40-cover bar on the site of the old Courage brewery is the first venture from Pippa Guy (ex-The Savoy’s American Bar) and Sebastiano Fileccia (once general manager at The Milk Thistle in Bristol), two experienced operators with a passion for sparkling wine (all served by the glass or bottle), whisky and seasonal cocktails.

We kicked off with the First Frost – a smoky, punchy blend of mezcal, pisco, preserved mint and apple jelly and winter rooibos Campari – followed by the decadent Don’t Burn The Butter (Michter’s bourbon, brown butter, apricot and coffee-macerated sherry) – a smooth and comforting drink with the creamy allure of a boozy Werther’s Original caramel candy.

There’s also expertly poured draught Guinness on tap, although a couple of non-sparkling wines might add wider appeal to this otherwise charming and important new Bristol opening.
