Angelo Sparvoli will leave his role as head bartender of the American Bar at The Savoy next week, CLASS can reveal.
Sparvoli, who first joined the Savoy six years ago, became the 14th head bartender of the American Bar in March 2024.
He became the fourth head bartender at the former World’s Best Bar in just six years, following the departures of Chelsie Bailey (2022-2024), Shannon Tebay (2021-2022) and Maxim Schulte (2018-2020).
Notable others to occupy the fabled role include Erik Lorincz (2010-2018), Peter Dorelli (1985-2003), Harry Craddock (1925-1939) and Ada Coleman (1903-1924).
Sparvoli, who climbed from bar back to head bartender during a two-part five-year stint at the world-famous cocktail bar, remarked on his tenure, saying "what a journey it has been".
The Savoy has yet to announce succession plans, with Markus Basset having oversight over the both the American and Beaufort Bars.
A statement issued to CLASS read: "We wish Angelo the very best in his next chapter and thank him sincerely for his dedication and contribution to the American Bar during his time as Head Bartender since 2024.
"Markus Basset will continue to guide the iconic American Bar in his role as Head of Bars at The Savoy, and we look forward to creating many more Liquid Moments at London’s longest-surviving cocktail bar."
