Billed as Liverpool first listening bar, Simone’s Cocktail Club has opened on Queen Avenue in the city’s business district.
The venue is the latest project from Chris Edwards, founder of Sister Ray and co-founder of Belzan, Madre and Salon.
Simone’s follows the Japanese tradition of listening bars, where the focus is on high-fidelity sound and attentive music appreciation.
The bar features a bespoke sound system curated by audio specialist Barney Rosenthal, who has previously worked with Invisible Wind Factory, 24 Kitchen Street, The Kazimier, Tate Gallery and FACT.
The venue will feature resident and guest DJs playing a mix of jazz, Afro-beat and house music. The cocktail menu includes drinks with Japanese influences alongside classic serves such as Caipirinhas, Margaritas and Daiquiris.

Edwards said: “We’ve been full from early on each evening. Simone’s is something I’ve always had in mind, and Queen Avenue felt like the right place for it. We’re showcasing music through a sound system curated by Barney Rosenthal, one of the most knowledgeable people in the field.”
Simone’s is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 5pm until 2am, at Lower A&B, 22 Queen Avenue, Liverpool, L2 4TZ.
