Andy Bishop

Drinks publisher and event organiser Andy Bishop has passed away, his family has revealed.

Bishop spent decades working in the UK and international bar sector as a publisher and director of events. He founded Theme Magazine in the 1990s, a pioneering publication for bar culture and ran the Theme Awards.

In 2000 Bishop launched the London Bar Show, a dedicated exhibition for bar owners and operators, bartenders, drinks companies and designers, which, at its peak, attracted over 12,000 bar professionals from around the world.

Bishop exported the format to the Netherlands and then to Russia with the launch of Moscow Bar Show in 2011.

From 2009 Bishop worked as an independent consultant to the international bar sector, while more recently working as a content consultant for InstallerSHOW, following a similar role at the KBB Birmingham exhibition.

A family message on his Facebook page, read: "It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband, dad, PopPop, son, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle — Robert “Andy” Bishop.

"Andy passed away unexpectedly on 26th October, and as a family we are still coming to terms with this heartbreaking loss."
