The Spirit of Manchester Distillery has announced it will close its city-centre distillery and bar Three Little Words.
In an announcement on social media, owners Seb and Jen Heeley-Wiggins said: "Unfortunately there has been a perfect storm of firstly covid, which changed the whole landscape, but more recently pressures put on hospitality in terms of raw materials, rising costs, taxes and subsequently the squeeze on consumer wallets.
"It's not something we ever imagined doing and at all what we saw for the future when we personally invested so heavily in the site. We saw Watson Street as our forever home but because of these challenges it's become clear that it has taken our focus away from what we originally set out to do - spirits and distilling.
"We couldn't be prouder of our team and the accolades we've achieved but for now that means our events, distillery tours and gin schools won't be running....Please bear with us over the next few weeks while we support our wonderful and dedicated team that will be most affected by this.
"Thank you for all the support over the last nine years."
