Passing Fancies, the CLASS Bar Awards' Best Bar in the Midlands 2024, has announced it will close on July 31st, ahead of a move to a new Birmingham city-centre site.
From September, Matt Arnold and Eve Green's award-winning bar will take up a new space in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.
When it opens, it will be almost three years since Passing Fancies first opened its doors in its original Custard Factory site in Digbeth.
Arnold and Green told CLASS: "After three incredible years shaking things up from our beloved spot in Digbeth, we’re closing the doors to our original home this July — but not without a big reason. We’re proud to announce that we’re evolving, expanding, and relocating to a new home on the other side of the city: The Jewellery Quarter.
"Our next chapter takes us into a vibrant neighbourhood filled with independent spirit, stronger community ties, and better transport links — the kind of place where our guests can stumble in from around the corner or hop off a tram/train for the evolution of Passing Fancies.
"We're joining forces with a collective of like-minded independents, and what we’re building together promises to put some fire into the hospitality scene of Birmingham. This move is more than just a change of postcode. It’s a reinvention of the brand: bolder, more ambitious, and built with the same independent heartbeat that’s driven us since day one."
To bridge the gap between locations, Passing Fancies is popping up in Manchester this summer for a three-week residency. "Expect a blend of OG Passing Fancies and the first sneak peak of what is next," added the owners.
Class will publish more details on Passing Fancies' residency and new permanent site in the coming weeks.
