Natasha Corfield dropped in on Betty's for the Spring issue.

Downstairs at Betty’s, tucked away in Edinburgh’s West End, is a New York-style sing-along piano bar. The vision? To bring people together through a love of music and cocktails, with the retro bar top designed to wrap around the piano, encouraging conversation and, of course, no-judgement singing.

If the packed house on a rainy February Wednesday is any indication, this place is the city’s newest hotspot. The minimalist menu offers a mix of classic cocktails, signature creations and seasonal twists, all around the £12 mark.

The herbaceous, tart Night Fever is a daring mix of East London gin, Lucky Apple & Peach, Cocchi Torino, blueberry, sage, peppercorn and sorrel.

It’s one of those drinks that shouldn’t work, yet somehow does. And if you need a final reason to swing by, the Corpse Reviver is the best I’ve had in Edinburgh.
