Silverleaf’s final service will be tomorrow, Thursday 30th January, after the bar announced it is to permanently close.
Launched three years ago, the Pan Pacific London hotel bar based in the nearby Devonshire House in the Liverpool Street area was co-founded by Martyn ‘Simo’ Simpson and Chris Tanner – who later departed to launch Dram – with Liam Broom as bar manager.
Silverleaf has been widely recognised as a leader of the London bar scene – receiving a string of Class Bar Awards nominations - creating forward-thinking cocktails and innovative menus.
CLASS understands that Pan Pacific London’s holding company UOL has sold Devonshire House, with new tenants due to take over from 1st February.
The team – which is headed up by GM Broom and includes head of R&D Rueben Clark – was informed of the closure on Friday, less than a week before their final service.
CLASS understands staff have begun a consultation over redundancy but are “able to apply for open positions in the hotel or potentially with the new tenant”.
It’s understood that Silverleaf was profitable but the decision to sell Devonshire House was driven by wider commercial considerations, with owners UOL having struggled to find neighbouring tenants to take up vacant sites in the building.
It is thought that the new tenants will be offering an 'immersive dining concept', which will see the cessation of the Silverleaf brand.
