Ellen Manning stops by Leamington Spa in the West Midlands and reviews Peaches.
The owners of Peaches in Leamington Spa are no strangers to the cocktail scene. Anna and Nate always dreamed of owning a cocktail bar, taking a step towards that dream in 2020 by creating The Little Cocktail Bar, offering premixed cocktails for people to enjoy at home.
But four years on they’ve made their dream come true, opening Peaches, a modest space, all muted colours and a sense of calm, that serves coffee, pastries and savoury bites such as toasties and potato smiles by day.
By night, the lighting is low, the atmosphere intimate and drinks are well-crafted cocktails – both classics and signature serves. My drinking partner declares the Espresso Martini the best he’s had, while my Filous Daiquiri is a grown-up riff on the childhood classic – balanced and nuanced, but playful too.
The stuff of city bars, right here in a picturesque spa town. There’s a reason Peaches was packed on a Wednesday night a month after opening. And I have a feeling it will stay that way.
