Our new Glasgow-based reviewer Mark Murphy stops by The Corset Club.
The Corset Club in the Jacobean Corsetry building in the Merchant City nods to its former use as a corset wholesalers and fits nicely into Glasgow‘s LGBTQ+ district.
Describing itself as “an inclusive safe space for queer people and allies”, the inclusivity stretches to large-format menus and gender-neutral toilets.
Open all week until 1am, it’s a cocktail bar with live entertainment cabaret-style, with the occasional corset thrown in for good measure.
There are classics on offer and a signatures list, where four out of five options are dominated by Lillet, and both Call Me by Your Name and To Wong Foo (£10 each) lack balance.
Should you be here midweek there are £4 Mojitos and Brambles, and if you succumb to a few, there’s a photo booth to document the descent.
