Crossroads was among the few good things to emerge from the pandemic, a compact, subterranean cocktail bar in a former Victorian toilet in Camden. Its new-ish home on Newington Green is comparatively palatial, but with all the charm and pioneering spirit of the original – a quintessential neighbourhood bar with a sustainable, forward-thinking approach.

The new site has a long bar with plenty of seats to admire the brand-free back bar from, with its array of in-house ingredients, often made with locally-sourced produce.

The on-trend cocktails mostly tend towards lighter fl avours and Highball-style drinks, simply named after their headline ingredient, with classics available too. A highlight is Tomato, a clear serve made with burnt butter gin, gazpacho and smoked birch.

The bar food menu is noteworthy too – the beef tartare in particular – with each dish paired with a cocktail from the list. This is the bar that every neighbourhood deserves.
