The Class review team lands in Liverpool for the launch of Canteen.
When Filter & Fox closed in 2019, Liverpool lost a daytime bartender hangout, where you wouldn’t be judged for having an Old Fashioned with your panini at lunch. Well, until now.
With a nod to that same daylight drinking and casual food, The Canteen is brought to us by Joe Wild (Bandito, Taco or Don’t), David Martin and Victoria Charlton (both Bitter Social) – so a considerable wealth of knowledge.
Housed in FACT, the art, event and picture house, The Canteen sees the coming and going of the art world, enticed in for aperitivo and small plates. The menu extends from oysters to grilled cheese toasties, washed down with classic serves of Gimlet, New York Sours and Tommy’s Margarita.
The day soon becomes night at The Canteen, as the bar transitions with the fading light to become a nightspot.
