Norwich bar operator Matthew Dakers has launched Melville & Sons, a sequel to his Class Bar Awards-shortlisted 11th & Social.
Located at 29 Tombland, the venue sees cocktails and food share the stage.
With an open kitchen at the heart of the venue, Dakers' signature cocktails, wine and beer offering will be complemented by small plates by local fine-dining chef Roger Hickman, whose menu goes live in April.
Dakers told CLASS: "Opening in this new site gave me the opportunity to create something unique that serves as a wine shop, restaurant and bar."
"In terms of drinks, we went completely in the opposite direction to 11th & Social this time and went heavy on wines and beers on draught.
"The cocktails are still a focus, with a page on the menu devoted to pre-batched drinks and one on drinks made from fresh fruit and vegetables - the Avocado Daiquiri for example. I am soon putting a Clover Club on with fresh raspberries."
The décor sees a marble terrazzo bar top. Copper plated beer pillar for draught. Furniture bought new and wanted to reflect the wine bar/cocktail bar look we were going for. Still, some room for some rough pillars to give an industrial look.

Dakers' 25-year hospitality career has seen stints at London bars Hoxton Pony, Trailer Happiness and Mahiki, Dry Martini in Barcelona, while more recently he worked in training roles at The Cocktail Club (formerly LCC) and The Ivy Collection.
He launched 11th & Social in 2023 and the following year was voted by the Class Bar Awards' nationwide voting panel as a finalist in the Best Bar in the Midlands & East Anglia category.
