Reviewer for the north Dave Marsland took his time to get to Pearl at Park Hill in Sheffield, but it was well worth the wait.
Pearl at Park Hill may now be a good way into its first year, but we couldn’t let such a good bar go unreviewed.
Brought to Sheffield by the team behind Bench – Jack Wakelin and Tom Aronica – Pearl gives the community pub a 21st-century spin, based in the Grade II listed Park Hill, a towering Brutalist concrete block of flats that towers over the City of Steel.
Inside, Pearl is splashes of washed purples and pinks, lit by subtle lighting, and one short shelf of spirits – everything here is minimalist.
The cocktails are sublime, with the Dizzy New Heights being the standout, bringing together Brugal rum, spent coffee and Bullion chocolate for an Espresso Martini twist.
But this place isn’t all fancy drinks, with a cheeky Timothy Taylor pump on the bar, this is a place for all demographics. Pearl has hit it out of the park from the off.
