FUNKIN COCKTAILS, the UK’s number one cocktail brand, is relaunching its Heritage Cocktail competition as the brand marks its 25th anniversary in 2024.

Launched last year, the Heritage Cocktail competition encourages bartenders from around the UK to create a cocktail that honours the past while also incorporating modern techniques and ingredients. Since the brand’s origin in 1999, FUNKIN has consistently championed the importance of balancing tradition and innovation in mixology, while ensuring bartenders have the finest ingredients to work with.

This year’s competition will encourage mixologists to craft exquisite serves using FUNKIN COCKTAILS Liqueurs. This three-strong range of Passion Fruit (18% ABV), Triple Sec (20% ABV) and Peach (18% ABV) launched last year and was developed especially for cocktails and approved by bartenders to help them tap into the growing category, now worth £688M .

“Our roots are firmly in the on trade and we’re proud to be celebrating a quarter of a century working together,” explains Ben Anderson, FUNKIN’s Marketing Director.

“The Heritage Competition is all about celebrating the on trade, uniting the industry and encouraging innovation – areas that we’re incredibly passionate about and committed to supporting.

“Our goal has always been to show up for the industry and continue to drive things forwards, from training, recipes, and tools, to product creation, such as the launch of our Liqueurs last year. We know we’ll be inspired by some amazing entries into our Heritage Competition.”

To enter, participants can head to the FUNKIN COCKTAILS Trade Hub to request their complimentary samples of Liqueurs, create a cocktail using at least one Liqueur and no more than six ingredients and share a photo on Instagram, tagging the brand and using the campaign hashtag #FunkinCocktailsHeritage.

Entries must be in by 1st August, with six finalists announced on 12th August. The grand finale will then take place in London on 28th August; the finalist's travel will be covered by the FUNKIN business. The winner will be chosen by a panel of three judges, looking for top marks across the cocktail’s name, taste, appearance, replicability and originality, as well as its sustainability credentials and the inspiration behind the serve. Points will also be awarded for hospitality skills on the day.

The winner will be announced at the end of the competition, followed by an evening celebrating the brand’s 25th anniversary with the trade and friends of FUNKIN. The winner will receive £1000 prize money, the runner up will secure a prestige dinner experience of their choice worth £300, while third place will win £100 and a range of FUNKIN liqueurs.
