Italian grill room and cocktail bar, GiGi Gusto Griglia Grill Room, is set to open in Deansgate, Manchester this autumn.

Housed in the historic Victorian city library, Jamie Barber’s new venue also includes Bar Eleganza, which is entered through a hidden entrance on Jackson’s Row.

A meeting of 1950s-1960s Italy and hotel bars, Bar Eleganza will feature an imposing centralised bar and a baby grand piano.

The cocktail programme has been masterminded by Errant, the team behind Manchester bar Stray.

Bar Eleganza is staking its claim as the city’s first ‘House of Negroni’, while other classics such as Martinis and Sgroppinos will also be served, alongside wine.

Barber said: “I wanted, quite selfishly, to build a restaurant I want to go to, somewhere I can sip a proper Negroni, share handmade pasta and pizzette, listen to great music and finish with a well-rested piece of rare-breed steak.

“From the kitchen to the piano, bar to the DJs and management, every part of GiGi is designed around the pleasure of eating, drinking and staying out.”
